Summary and Personal Reflections of "Students dig in for sustainability"

Gerloff, O 11 August 2010 'Putting the future in good hangds' in Parramatta advertiser.

Summary

Students from Parramatta West Public School are planting a vegetable garden which is part of a school garden program. This program aimed to foster a new generation of leaders who concern about environment. It also helps students to learn about healthy eating, living things, business and accounting skills. Therefore, more students will become self-sufficient.

Personal Reflections

I like the School Gardens Project very much becouse our children really need to learn more knowledge of planting and more related knowledge. In addition, they also can enjoy the fruits of their labor. For instance, they can enjoy the fresh salad which is made of the vegetables planted by themselves, and they also can earn some money from selling the vegetables at the markets.

Above all, I believe the students will like this project because it is a fantastic program.

  1. Extra curriculum school activities are very important for students and should be part of the core curriculum.
